Precision Farming
Why Drones in Agriculture?
Main applications:
- Crop health & disease monitoring
- Vegetation identification and metrics
- Terrain mapping
- Invasive species identification & analysis
- Land & forestry research
- Vigour mapping
- Agricultural insecticide spraying
- Agricultural fertilizer dispensing
Data collected by drones can include the health status of plants and soil characteristics, thus allowing to spray and / or spread fertilizers, pesticides, organic products and even antagonistic insects in the proper quantity and in the specific areas where they are actually needed.
This leads to cost savings for farmers and greater protection of the environment. In addition, it will be possible to improve the forecast of cultivation results and easily detect diseases and irrigation needs.
Furthermore, the analysis of data relating to different years allows a historical overview about the productivity and management of the farm. The precision of the analysis at “single plant level” makes the surveys carried out by a drone not comparable to those available via satellite.
Moreover, the support of drones in agriculture is crucial where the usual ground agritech machineries are unable to access the fields, or when immediate and efficient actions as spraying or spreading specific treatments in a short time are required to avoid crop loss.
Aerial images and videos collected by the drone will also help the farmers in land surveillance and wildlife control, give support in case of accidents, assist in detecting and assessing damages when disasters occur.
Over the years Mavtech has gained considerable experience in this field thanks to its participation in many research projects. This experience has enabled the development of integrated solutions including aircrafts and ground stations.
Portability, efficiency and robustness are the cornerstones of the developed systems.
