Why Drones in Energy?

The development of the renewable energy market and the need to monitor and maintain complex energy generation infrastructures require sophisticated technologies, able to guarantee the best efficiency without service interruption, with enormous advantages in terms of cost, speed of execution and safety.

Drones became the most efficient solution for carrying out inspections and monitoring activities of Wind, Photovoltaic and Agrivoltaic plants, due to their large extension and/or their location in critical areas.

Regarding Photovoltaic facilities, the use of drones equipped with thermal cameras allow to quickly identify defects at cell and module level, detecting heat losses, presence of hotspots, non-functioning strings. Creating a Digital Twin of the structure, it is possible to map exactly where critical points are located.

Survey and monitoring activities may also be applied to site and boundaries control, analyzing for instance the presence of vegetation or other elements that may compromise the operations or for general surveillance porpouses.

The possibility of acting with drastically reduced times and without plant downtime, combined with the prompt availability of detailed and certified output reports makes the use of drones extremely profitable, with a relevant maintenance cost reduction.

Drone solutions do not only concern the Utilities market, with its large on-shore and off-shore installations, but also the Commercial & Industrial sector with “roof top” systems, the agricultural and the residential applications.
