“The good side of drones”. Our co-founder Giorgio Guglieri interviewed at Expo 2025 Osaka

Within the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025, the exhibition “Volare: Where Dreams Meet Technology” showcased the latest aerospace innovations and new technological solutions for social progress, including drones designed to support and simplify human operations in everyday life and risk situations.

Professor Giorgio Guglieri, Director of DIMEAS — the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Politecnico di Torino — was interviewed by TGR Piemonte, where he presented the mock-up of the MAVTech RX2 drone, developed in collaboration with Politecnico di Torino. The aircraft is designed to fly in indoor environments without the use of GPS, thanks to an autonomous navigation system based on cameras. The RX2 can also operate in hazardous environments — such as unstable, contaminated, or burning buildings — to carry out reconnaissance missions and support the work of emergency response teams.

Among the other innovations showcased and presented by the professor were new UAVs powered by biofuels derived from biological sources, offering a lower environmental impact and intended to replace traditional fuels.
Another green solution that is receiving particular attention is hydrogen, regarded as a key pillar in achieving zero emissions by 2050.
