Eurac Research

Eurac Research was founded in 1992 as an association under private law with just twelve members of staff undertaking research in the areas of Language and Law, Minorities and Autonomous Regions as well as the Alpine Environment. The centre gradually expan​​ded its activities into new areas, attracted scientists from all over the world and introduced new structures. Today, almost 400 scientists from over 25 countries work here.​​

Southyrolean mountain and cave rescue organization

The Southyrolean mountain and cave rescue organization is a voluntary subsidiary organization (ODV) of the National Mountain and Cave Organization C.N.S.A.S.

As such it is a special branch of the Italian Alpine Club (Club Alpino Italiano CAI), which operates in the entire province of Bolzano. 

It consists of 700 voluntary mountain rescuers and mountain guides who speak German, Italian and Ladin as their mother tongue. These are split among 21 mountain rescue sections and one cave rescue section.

Similar to the Alpine Rescue Service BRD of the Alpine Club South Tyrol AVS he main scope of activities of the Southtyrolean mountain and cave rescue consists of the prevention of mountain accidents as well as the rescuing of accident victims, people in danger and missing people.

It also works closely with the Civil Protection Agency and the regional emergency call centre
